Holland Historical Society

The former Holland Congregational Church is located on an open hillside of farmland and serves as the home of the local historical society. It is currently open seasonally and by appointment. The collection includes antiques from the late 1800s and early 1900s that have been donated from local families – clothing, home goods, tools, photographs, diaries and letters.

Events include an annual dinner and annual church service (in honor of the buildings historic use) and they have an annual Open House event. In addition to the collection and events, the Historical Society hosts 1st and 2nd graders who use the collection to then develop their own Holland History books. This event has been very successful and historical society members have said that it is inspiring to see the children who visit show so much interest in learning about the past.

Jan Lewandowski has identified $67,000 of work including foundation repair, the need for a new roof, steeple repairs, and windows restoration. The group has raised $12,000 and those funds along with a grant from the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation, and this $35,000 will make it possible for them to complete all of the work.
